He seems like an ordinary child when you look at him, a beloved son of his mother as well as an apple of his dad’s eye and albeit he is. But this ordinary child doesn’t lead an ordinary life; he is a florist, who sells flowers day and night to take care of his old parents and his siblings, who are too young to face this cruel world. Children of his age usually go to school and receive education but he has started working at the age of eight to support his family financially, knowing the fact that his parents are too old to make the ends meet. At seven in the morning when children wake up to get ready for the school, he wakes up to sell flowers car to car and road to road. When he gets worn out, he ends up sleeping on the footpath with flowers beside him by leaving all the worries about his future at the door. Keeping aside all the worries, his only concern is to earn money to feed his family who must be awaiting him to bring some food.
The political instability has resulted in widespread impoverishment across the Pakistan and poor people are compelled to sell their babykins, or to leave their children in baby hatches, mostly present outside the welfare organizations. Having said that, our politicians use slogans like “khushaal pakistan”, just applaud for them once by looking at this picture. It is so heart wrenching to see these children, who are the future assets of our country, are compelled to opt work like selling flowers, balloons, picking trash and begging from place to place.
